​4/30  9th Filmmaker Workshop - "Demystifying Film Samples" co-hosted by BAVC and BFF: ​Join the Berkeley FILM Foundation and BAVC Media (Bay Area Video Coalition) for a workshop hosted by award-winning film editors Melina Tupa and Stephanie Mechura who will teach filmmakers how to craft a film sample that demonstrates your abilities as a visual storyteller and gets noticed by potential funders. A well-cra​fted film sample can be the key to getting grants no matter what stage of production you are in. The session will shed light on what reviewers are looking for and how you can implement these elements into your application to help advance your film. Both experienced and beginner filmmakers are encouraged to attend!​​

​7/27-7/30  American Film Institute - Cinematography Intensive for Women 2024The American Film Institute believes in the power of diverse voices to drive culture forward. As America’s leading filmmaker training program, the AFI Conservatory is committed to establishing equity in education, career advancement and visual storytelling. The AFI Cinematography Intensive for Women (CIW) is a tuition-free, four-day workshop designed for aspiring cinematographers committed to their journey toward a professional career as cinematographers, who have some on-set experience working in the field and are looking for additional training to help them advance in their education, craft and career.​ The application period closes Friday, May 31. CIW is highly competitive. The program will accept up to 12 candidates who demonstrate a passion for visual storytelling and meet the requirements below. Applicants will be notified of status in late June.​​
