The EVENT:​​​​​​

This CSUEA Summit (in partnership with Dolby, Adobe, and the CSU Hospitality & Tourism Alliance) brings together thought leaders in the entertainment, media and events industries to share insights on the evolving landscape and hiring trends for a brighter post-pandemic future.

As an attendee, you will hear directly from industry experts who will share their work, best practices, vision for a more innovative future, and what you need to know to remain at the forefront of the entertainment and event industries. You will also have the opportunity to network with industry and peers, explore company cultures, and discover new career possibilities!

This event is open to Faculty, Staff, Students, & Industry Members worldwide!

The California State University Entertainment Alliance keeps our 23 campuses at the forefront of innovation in entertainment education. Our programs and partnerships help students break into the entertainment industry in a meaningful way. CSU campuses are majority-minority, offering diversity of thought, culture, and background to potential employers. Supporting emerging talent from the CSU ensures representative, inclusive, and diverse content creators are given a shot at changing the face of the industry from the bottom up. ​

Vision Quest: The Future of Motion Design with Territory Studio -- Territory Studio is combining design, story, and technology to create groundbreaking effects for Hollywood films and real-world products. Creative Director / Co-Founder Marti Romances will discuss the process of bringing UI and UX to the silver screen, as well as to brands, services, and IP’s. Marti will reveal his Adobe creative toolset used to create experiences for cineastes and consumers alike. Evolving Broadcast Animation Production with Late Night Cartoons -- In 2017 Technical Director Brian Maffitt helped build one of the largest animation studios in New York City in record time, going from an empty floor of a Broadway Theater to delivering prime time broadcast episodes in 6 months. Participants will get a glimpse of how to produce a 3-day, round the world, round the clock global conference with the largest philanthropists and global leaders at the Skoll World Forum.

2. Grasp the "Event Science" behind this event and its vast number of key stakeholders

​1.12:00 – 12:30 pm, PST: “Adventures in Moviemaking”

      • Susan Bloom, Asst. Professor of Post-Production, Cal State Long Beach
      • John Delacruz, Associate Professor of Advertising Creative, San Jose State
      • Students pushed the creative envelope during lock-down. SJSU and CSULB challenged students to script, shoot, edit a 3 minute movie using Adobe Premiere Rush on their smartphones over a week. The process was captured in a Spark Page, industry pros judged the event and we held a virtual screening. 

2. 1:30 – 2:00 pm PST:“Knowing Onions and Cutting Teeth: Introducing Creative Ad students to Adobe CC Fundamentals”

      • John Delacruz, Associate Professor of Advertising Creative, San Jose State
      • Embedding craft skills into the advertising curriculum with Adobe CC, from Spark to Photoshop, Illustrator to Portfolio. SJSU refocused their Advertising Creative track curriculum around familiarity with Adobe CC as a tool box for creativity, ideation and storytelling.
