Dr. Nisha Nair

Dr. Nisha Nair is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University, Fresno. Dr. Nair practices as a women's health nurse practitioner, and her clinical career has centered on obstetric and women's health issues, including clinical practice in various settings such as labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, and family planning services. She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and earned certification as a nurse educator from the National League for Nursing. At Fresno State, she teaches in the DNP, MSN, RN to BSN, and BSN programs. She was the Co-coordinator of the DNP Program at Fresno State from May of 2017 until August 2018. Dr. Nair teaches courses in curriculum development and evaluation in nursing education in the DNP program and serves as a DNP project chair.  

Dr. Nair's research focuses on understanding the impact of health disparities and dissemination of the need for women's preventive health care services, parental education in newborn health, and breastfeeding counseling. Her scholarship also focuses on nursing education and developing and managing instructional pedagogies to create a student-centered environment for more in-depth learning. She belongs to many professional organizations and currently serving as the President of Sigma Theta Tau Mu Nu chapter and the Vice President for the California Indian Nurses Association.
