Michael Tam

Michael T. Tam joined the California State University Office of General Counsel in July 2018. His current primary responsibility as University Counsel is advising California State University, Monterey Bay. He also serves as a resource attorney on matters relating to Police/Clery/Pitchess Motions, Employee Discipline, EH&S and Campus Safety. He previously served on the Office of General Counsel’s Litigation Team and was responsible for litigating a variety of systemwide and campus-based matters in state and federal courts. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Michael was a civil litigator in private practice. While in private practice, he was an attorney at Woodruff, Spradlin & Smart for over six years, where he represented various public entities in complex civil cases in state and federal courts. These matters involved diverse areas of law, including labor and employment, breach of contract, inverse condemnation, eminent domain, personal injury, property damage and violations of civil rights.
