Academic Senate
Fifty-one faculty members are elected as representatives by their colleagues at each CSU campus to recommend academic policies to the CSU Board of Trustees and the chancellor.

Center for Community Engagement
The CSU is committed to serving the economic, public policy and social needs of our state. CCE supports that goal by working with the campuses to promote community engagement, including community service opportunities, service learning, community-based research, and other community-based activities. CSU students contributed 32 million volunteer hours in 2007-08!

Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP)
This program provides forgivable student loans to doctoral students with the skills and abilities needed to teach the CSU’s diverse student population. Loans are forgiven based on service in a CSU teaching position.

Council on Ocean Affairs, Science, and Technology (COAST)
COAST showcases faculty research projects that expand knowledge of and instill stewardship in California’s marine environments among CSU students and volunteers.

CSU Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB)
CSUPERB fosters research collaboration between CSU students and faculty; provides grants, an annual symposium and curriculum; and serves as a liaison to the biotechnology industry.

Graduation Initiative 2025
The CSU's ambitious initiative to increase graduation rates for all CSU students.

Institute for Teaching & Learning

ITL is devoted to promoting the highest standards of university teaching and to fostering faculty professional growth and collaboration throughout the CSU.

International Programs
Faculty participate in a variety of teaching and learning opportunities abroad and as Resident Directors at international program sites.

Learning & Development
Thousands of e-learning courses are available to CSU employees for free or at a reduced cost.

Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT)
Teachers share pedagogical advice, exchange learning materials with other instructors, and rate those materials, through MERLOT.
