Caron Laird is interim assistant vice chancellor of Marketing Communications for the California State University, Office of the Chancellor. She leads a 20-person team of professionals who together tell the CSU's story through award-winning design, photography and video, web content and design, and messaging. The department provides Chancellor's Office partners strategic communications support and marketing material. It also offers branding and style guidance.
During her 20-year tenure at the CSU, Caron has served as director of Collaborative Services and Operations and senior communications manager. Her teams have contributed to award-winning projects such as the “Women in Leadership" and “Class of 3 Million" campaigns, as well as the “How to Get to College" program.
Caron earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration from San Diego State University.
In her spare time, Caron serves as secretary to the Marine Conservation Research Institute, the research division of the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. She is a proud charter volunteer of the aquarium.
