​Dr. Stegner teaches courses on English Renaissance literature.  He is the author of Memory and Confessions in Early Modern Literature: Penitential Remains (Palgrave, 2015).  His articles have appeared in Shakespeare Studies, Studies in Philology, Journal of English and Germanic Philology, and several edited collections.  He came to Cal Poly's English Department as an assistant professor in 2007, and he was promoted to associate professor in 2012.  He holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of San Francisco and master's and doctoral degrees in English literature from the Pennsylvania State University.  Starting this fall, he will coordinate the English graduate program at Cal Poly.
