Contributing to the evolution of packaging from being considered a mere support function to a strategic business function aimed at creating value has been my biggest endeavor yet.

Professor Jay Singh's research emphasis of packaging dynamics has progressively developed a focus on efficient/sustainable packaging solutions.  His research, which includes over 90 peer-reviewed articles and over $3 million in research funding, is cited and acknowledged globally. Singh's research has resulted in development/modification of numerous globally acknowledged packaging performance test standards.  Singh has recently led the efforts to establish a Packaging Value Chain Center and a new M.S. Packaging Value Chain degree and certificates program at Cal Poly.

>Singh's emphasis on developing independent thinking skills, group problem solving and stressing the use of scholarly ideas & processes in evolving situations has resulted in 12 Cal Poly students named as inventors on patents and 34 coauthoring peer-reviewed articles.
