Celina Phillips, Ph.D.

Outstanding Academic Advisor Award, 2017-18
Department of Agriculture

Advising is the most rewarding component of my job! I love assisting students on the journey of navigating the college experience and finding their career path.

Dr. Phillips was raised on a small purebred cattle/alfalfa hay operation where she was active in both 4-H and FFA. After getting her BA in Agriculture at Chico State, she focused her PhD research on applied beef cattle nutrition at the University of Oklahoma. In July of 2005, she returned to Chico State to join the faculty in the College of Agriculture.

Dr. Phillips' research interests center on forage utilization, alternative feedstuffs, and production systems, incorporating research into her teaching. She believes strongly in experiential learning and ensuring that students of agriculture have ample opportunities to develop necessary skills to be successful, receiving the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award in 2017 for her efforts.
