Nancy Meyer-Adams, Ph.D.

Distinguished Faculty Advising Award, 2014-15
Long Beach
Department of Social Work

I know how important it is to have an advisor who listens and sees each student as an individual with life experiences and challenges that impact his or her success.

Dr. Nancy Meyer-Adams knows how important it is to have an advisor who listens. As a former high school dropout who earned her GED at age 37, teachers and advisors played a vital role in her life as she pursued her education and earned her Ph.D. at 47.

At CSULB she has advised hundreds of students, viewing each one as an individual whose life experiences and challenges play a unique role in his or her success.

Her students see her as an inspiring mentor.  She was named Most Valuable Professor by her students four times. Social Work students who had been accepted to prestigious private universities have opted instead to continue their education at CSULB because of Dr. Meyer-Adams.
