Robert W. Zoellner, Ph.D.

Outstanding Professor Award, 2017-18
Humboldt
Department of Chemistry

I’m a fanatic for chemistry, undergraduate teaching, and research mentorship!

Robert Zoellner’s passion for chemistry is matched only by his commitment to the success of undergraduate students. As a research mentor, Zoellner has co-authored peer-reviewed publications with more than 30 undergraduate students, an opportunity that helps them find jobs and graduate school acceptance. His 19 years at HSU has left students better understanding the world they live in. As one student said, he is “incredible at bringing out the beauty of chemistry.”

Zoellner has served as Department Chair of both Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy, and been a reviewer of seven journals, a textbook publisher, and worked with the Petroleum Research Fund.

Zoellner’s commitment to research experience and success for undergraduate students earned him the Outstanding Professor Award for 2017-18.
