California State University’s Super Sunday Partnership with California Churches Has Reached Over One Million People

California State University (CSU) leaders, including Chancellor Timothy P. White, will visit more than 100 churches across the state to deliver a message to encourage students to pursue higher education during the 12th Annual CSU Super Sunday. Over a million people have received this message through Super Sunday outreach efforts over the last 12 years with more than 100,000 congregants, students and families slated to do so this year. Audiences will also receive information about Graduation Initiative 2025, CSU's bold plan to increase graduation rates and to eliminate the achievement gap for the university's 475,000 students across all 23 campuses. CSU resources will be provided to help them foster a college-going culture at home, including information about preparing for college, applying to a CSU campus and applying for financial aid.

CSU Super Sunday is one of many events coordinated by CSU's African American Initiative to increase the preparation and retention of African American students. The year-round partnership between the CSU and leaders in African American communities throughout the state provides support through additional outreach and preparation events such as the Super Saturday College Fair and the Summer Algebra Institute.
