The following is a joint statement from the California State University and the California Faculty Association:

"By providing high-quality, affordable public higher education, the California State University has the unique ability to boost the prospects of increased levels of social mobility for the residents of California. A college degree has changed the lives of nearly 3.4 million CSU alumni who are leading our state's industries from agriculture to technology and every field in between.

If adequately funded by the state, the CSU can maintain affordability, increase access to our institutions and improve the achievement of our students, ultimately leading to even more graduates who are driving the world's sixth-largest economy.

The CSU and the California Faculty Association are committed partners in seeking the appropriate funding from our lawmakers that is critical to ensuring that excellent public higher education is available to all Californians."

Governor Brown is scheduled to release his initial 2018-19 budget proposal on January 10.
