Sacramento State alumnus David Lucchetti ’67 (Physical Education), Credential ’68, is president and CEO of Pacific Coast Building Products, a family-owned company based in the Sacramento region with operations in 13 western states and Canada.

Mr. Lucchetti worked as a high school history teacher and coach before entering his family’s business in 1970. He worked through the ranks of Pacific Coast Building Products to become the company’s president in 1979 and CEO in 1988. Pacific Coast Building Products and Mr. Lucchetti are leaders in the community and the building industry.

Mr. Lucchetti promotes the importance of philanthropy both personally and professionally. Under his leadership, Pacific Coast employees support numerous causes in their communities. He has been part of many fundraising campaigns including co-chairing capital campaigns for Sierra Adoption Services and Jesuit High School and most recently Cristo Rey High School. He also has served on several non-profit boards throughout the region. His family made the lead gift to the Sutter Medical Center Foundation in 2005 and was recognized with the naming of the Anderson Lucchetti Women’s and Children’s Center.

At his alma mater, Mr. Lucchetti has been a supporter of Sacramento State athletics and scholarship programs and has been a member of the College of Business Administration Advisory Council. His honors include a Distinguished Service Award from the University and the Sacramento State Alumni Association in 1994.

He has also been recognized for his efforts in the community. In 2004 he was named Business Man of the Year and in 2008 he was named Sacramentan of the Year by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. In January 2002, Mr. Lucchetti had the honor of representing Sacramento in the Olympic Torch Relay, lighting the cauldron in Old Sacramento as the torch made its way to the Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

In recognition of his commitment to causes that benefit the people of California, and the Sacramento region in particular, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University, Sacramento are proud to confer on David Lucchetti the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
