California State University, Chico

Judy Lynn Sitton has distinguished herself for her exemplary involvement in and support of California State University, Chico and the Chico business community - as a business executive, philanthropist, tireless volunteer and major supporter of numerous university organizations.

Ms. Sitton was co-founder and executive vice president of Bi-Tech Software Inc. (eventually SunGard Bi-Tech Software Inc.)  Widely regarded for her business acumen, energ, and organizational skills, she was responsible for marketing and sales, human resources and payroll management, training coordination, physical plan oversight, national/regional user group coordination, and management of major projects.

She developed a set of rules, “Managing Your Success,” which have helped individuals grow personally, professionally, financially, spirituall, and healthily. This set of rules reflects her positive, upbeat, anything-is-possible attitude and outlook on life.

Her keen support of California State University, Chico is evident in Bi-Tech Software’s hiring of a large number of California State University, Chico graduates.  Three- quarters of the company’s officers are Chico State grads and nearly two-thirds of its employees received their degrees from California State University, Chico, mainly in computer science and business.

Helping others is a hallmark of Ms. Sitton’s life.  Her tireless support of California State University, Chico includes service on the University Advisory Board, chair of the Students in Free Enterprise Business Advisory Board, member of the College of Business Advisory Board, and President of the Northern California Natural History Museum Board. Under her leadership, the museum board has raised $6.2 million toward its $9 million goal.

Her charitable spirit has provided generous scholarships for students in engineering and business and helped California State University, Chico realize the dream of a Natural History Museum.

In recognition of her personal and professional achievements and service to California State University, Chico, the Board of Trustees of The California State University and California State University, Chico are proud to confer upon Judy Lynn Sitton the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
