Larry Sharp, president and CEO of Arrowhead Credit Union (ACU), has led the ACU for 25 years, increasing its membership by more than a factor of six to the current level of nearly 170,000 members.  The organization’s assets have in turn grown more than twenty-fold in that same period.

Mr. Sharp’s contributions to the region are numerous: he currently serves as chair of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, chair of the Riverside-San Bernardino Community Foundation Board, chair of the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Foundation Board, co-chair of the Alliance for Education, and past president of the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce.  He also served three terms on the board of the San Bernardino County Employees Retirement Association and as vice chair of the Enterprise for Economic Excellence.

In recognition of his service and business leadership, he received California State University, San Bernardino’s 1998 “Arrowhead Distinguished Chief Executive Award,” and in 2000, he was named “Business Leader of the Year” by the San Bernardino Sun.  In addition, in 2002 he was given the “Excellence in Business Development Leadership” award from the Valley Group, and in 2003 he received the “Donald G. Hagman Award” from the Southern California Association of Governments.

Mr. Sharp has a long-standing connection with CSUSB, including receiving an MBA degree in 2003.  Moreover, he has been an ardent supporter of the college’s programs and facilities. He was a commencement speaker in 2004 and currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board and as a member of the President’s Advancement Council.

In recognition of his many accomplishments and his support of CSUSB, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University, San Bernardino are proud to confer upon Larry Sharp the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
