Peter Oppenheimer is a highly accomplished business leader whose passion for education has generated philanthropic support across all levels of education.

Mr. Oppenheimer earned his bachelor's degree from Cal Poly in 1985 in agricultural business, where he honed many of his entrepreneurial and innovation skills. He earned an MBA from the University of Santa Clara.

Currently Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Apple, Inc., Mr. Oppenheimer began his distinguished career with Apple in 1996 as controller for the Americas. He currently oversees all of the company's financial operations.

Mr. Oppenheimer brings insights gained from his career and leadership successes to his extensive involvement with Cal Poly as a speaker, university adviser and philanthropist. A longtime supporter of education, he currently serves on the board of trustees for Catholic Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, is a member of the Cal Poly President's Cabinet and is a founding member of the Cal Poly Foundation Board of Directors.

Understanding the importance of funding educational priorities, Mr. Oppenheimer's focus on supporting students' success involves a passion for innovation. His dynamic leadership on the board of trustees for Catholic Sacred Heart Schools and his unstinting commitment to Cal Poly has brought many projects into fruition.

In consideration of his exemplary professional accomplishments, of his commitment to the advancement of students' success at all levels of education, and of his longstanding support of Cal Poly, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo are proud to confer upon Peter Oppenheimer the honorary degree of Doctor of Science.
