John Ronca's commitment to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is unmatched. He serves as a member of the Cal Poly Foundation Board, chair of the Athletic Director's Council, legal counsel for the Cal Poly Alumni Association and is a past lecturer in business law for the Orfalea College of Business. Mr. Ronca and his wife, Tracy, are also campaign co-chairs for Cal Poly's The Power of Doing: The Campaign for Learn By Doing. In each of these roles, he works quietly behind the scenes, never seeking recognition, to help move the university forward in support of its students. The entire Ronca family have been longtime philanthropic supporters of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students, student athletes and capital projects.

Mr. Ronca is also a committed volunteer to the San Luis Obispo community and the state of California. He is a current or former member of numerous community boards, including French Hospital Medical Center, Mission College Preparatory High School, the Rossi Foundation and the Northern California Golf Association. Mr. and Mrs. Ronca are founding members of Tennis Connect San Luis Obispo's board of directors. 

Mr. Ronca received his bachelor's degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1979. He went on to earn his juris doctor degree from Pepperdine University's Caruso School of Law and his master's degree in the laws of taxation from the University of Denver's School of Law. Mr. Ronca is certified as a specialist by the California State Bar in the areas of estate planning, trust and probate law, and is a member of the California State Bar Association and the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association.

Mr. Ronca received the highest rating awarded by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating service. He has published numerous articles and co-authored the Durable Power of Attorney Handbook published by the California State Bar.

In recognition of his significant role as an impactful advisor and loyal volunteer and alumnus, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo are proud to confer upon Mr. John Ronca the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
