Rick Stollmeyer co-founded MindBody, Inc. in 2001 and recently transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman after serving over 16 years as the organization's Chief Executive Officer. He is also MindBody's principal visionary, ensuring that everything the organization embraces serves the company's vision: Leveraging technology to improve the wellness of the world. MindBody's annual wellness and beauty conference, BOLD, has featured such speakers as former First Lady Michelle Obama, Billie Jean King, Arianna Huffington, Magic Johnson, Jillian Michaels and Deepak Chopra.

As an advisor-turned-partner, Mr. Stollmeyer helped transform MindBody from a home­based operation with 12 clients to a full-fledged software development company serving more than 500,000 beauty, health and wellness practitioners at 53,000 businesses in more than 130 countries. In 2005, he took MindBody's business management system fully to the cloud. A decade later, the company raised more than $100 million in its initial public offering. As of Ju​ne 2018, the company was valued at more than $1.8 billion. In December of the same year, MindBody announced its acquisition by Vista Equity Partners for $1.9 billion.

Mr. Stollmeyer and his wife, Jill (BS '97 Recreation Administration), have generously shared their time, talent and treasure with California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Both serve as campaign co-chairs of The Power of Doing: The Campaign for Learn by Doing, and in 2018 they made a transformational gift in support of Cal Poly Scholars and Mustang Scholars. Mr. Stollmeyer has been a member of the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo CIE Advisory Council since 2013.

Mr. Stollmeyer received his bachelor's degree in political science and Russian language from the United States Naval Academy. After graduating from the Naval Academy, he served in the Navy for six years as a submarine officer.

In recognition of his significant accomplishments as an innovative and dynamic leader in cloud-based technology and wellness, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo are proud to confer upon Mr. Rick Stollmeyer the honorary degree of Doctor of Science.
