Cal Poly alumnus (Bus '73), Associated Students, Inc. president emeritus and former Mustang baseball standout Robin Baggett enjoys a dual career as a lawyer and a vintner and plays an important role in university and community organizations.

A graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where he served as editor of the Law Review and graduated in the top two percent of his class, Mr. Baggett went on to clerk for Justice William Clark of the California Supreme Court and Judge Samuel Conti of the U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

He enjoyed a 25-year career as partner in the law firm Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut & Baggett (now Sinsheimer Juhnke McIvor & Stroh, LLP) in San Luis Obispo, serving as general counsel for the National Basketball Association's Golden State Warriors for eight years. He remains a consultant to his former law firm.

During Mr. Baggett's second career in the wine industry, he developed more than 800 vineyard acres in Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo. He is an owner of Alpha Omega in Napa Valley and Tolosa Winery and Phase 2 Cellars custom crush facility in San Luis Obispo.

Mr. Baggett is a loyal donor to the university, a longstanding member of the Cal Poly Athletics Director's Council and a past board member of the Cal Poly Alumni Association. In 1998, Mr. Baggett was inducted into the Cal Poly Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2001, Cal Poly opened Baggett Stadium in honor of his service to the university and in recognition of his university baseball career as one of the best catchers in the program's history.

He a past president of the San Luis Obispo Vintners and Growers Association and has served on the boards of directors of Friends of Hearst Castle; the Wine Institute; Napa's Festival del Sole; and The First Tee of Monterey County, a youth development organization that conducts golf and life skills programs for young people.

In recognition of his accomplishments as a business and community leader, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo are proud to confer upon Robin Baggett the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
