  • Founder and president of the International Center for Professional Development which promotes career success of ethnically diverse and underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
  • Supervised mentoring and scientific fellowships for more than 300 graduate and post-doctoral researchers in the United States and Africa.
  • Through an internship with Amgen obtained through CSU Channel Islands, co-discovered a new protein formulation for medical drugs.
  • Initiated the Jatropha Tree project for the people of Africa, which provides low-maintenance trees that produce biodiesel that can be sold to pay for medication.
  • Devotes much of her volunteer work to improving the medical and educational infrastructure of villages in her native Zimbabwe through programs that are sustainable, self-supporting and empowering to those who live there.
