Andrew Skinner suffered a serious spinal cord injury six months after graduating CSUCI. In 2008, while still in recovery, he launched the Triumph Foundation which provides resources and hope for people living with paralysis.
The Triumph Foundation has touched the lives of over 5,000 individuals with disabilities. To date, it has given $500,000 in assistance to people with financial hardships due to healthcare costs; performed 10 accessible home remodels; and provided wheelchair-accessible vehicles to individuals who could not obtain their own. They serve children, adults, and many veterans, and host more than 20 Paralympic sporting events each year.
The foundation has trained 50 peer mentors and provided more 2,000 Care Baskets to those newly injured. Triumph Ambassadors regularly visit 18 area hospitals and rehabilitation centers throughout the Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, Kern and San Diego counties.
Andrew has received numerous awards and recognition for his work with the Triumph Foundation. He received the Ralph W. Braun Spirit of Ability Award, the CrisCom Company Leader for America Award, and was recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense's National Disability Employment Awareness program. He's been recognized by the U.S. Senate, City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and several chambers of commerce.
Andrew attended the 5th Annual Roll on Capitol Hill Legislative and Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C., to advocate for legislation that impacts people with disabilities.
