Appointed Senior Vice President, Prime Video and Amazon Studios in February 2020, overseeing all aspects of Amazon’s video entertainment businesses. Formerly chairman of Sony Pictures Television , Hopkins oversaw all television production, distribution, and marketing operations globally for the studio as well as Sony Pictures Entertainment’s media networks business.
He was chief executive officer of Hulu from 2013 to 2017. Hulu is one of the leading premium streaming destinations in the United States.
As the head of Hulu, he led the company in nearly tripling its market valuation, grew its audience to over 47 million total unique users, and built its premium Hulu Originals programming slate. It included Emmy Award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale, and fan favorites, The Mindy Project and The Path.
Prior to joining Hulu, he was president of distribution for Fox Networks. Hopkins oversaw the distribution strategy, sales and marketing for the company’s U.S. channels, as well as on-demand and digital extensions.
He currently serves on the Paley Center for Media’s Los Angeles Board of Governors and the UCLA Anderson School Board of Advisors, where he earned his MBA. Previously, he served on the boards of Hulu, National Geographic Channels, and The Big Ten Network.
