Well on his way to building one of the world’s best web content management systems and deployment experiences, and a $100 million-plus company, Mac Clemmens also works with non-profits, local government and higher education to improve their communication.
Mac began his career redesigning websites for WEAVE, Inc., (services to domestic violence/sexual assault victims) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. His niche became empowering communication and connecting communities: "We empowered our clients to tell their stories using our platform…and changed the way they communicated,” he says.
His passion for net neutrality, closing the digital divide, and expanding internet access led to him being invited to the White House three years in a row. He continues to advocate strongly for sustainability and the needs of emerging businesses.
Mac discovered a passion for using web design and open-source software to close the digital divide during his service leaning experience at Seaside High School. Soon after, as a 20-year old CSUMB student, he began growing his own company to help pay his tuition. That company (Digital Deployment) grew and was eventually acquired for millions, allowing Mac to move on to his second "passion" enterprise - Streamline - bridging the digital divide for local governments across the country and improving civic engagement and transparency at the community level.
Mac is passionate about treating his employees well, encouraging those with children to make parenting their No. 1 priority, offering unlimited vacation time, providing healthy meals and snacks and allowing flexible work hours. His company has been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Sacramento by the Sacramento Business Journal.
