Upon graduating from CSU Monterey Bay, accepted a direct commission into the United States NOAA Corps in 2003. Has completed one sea-tour (NOAAS Miller Freeman (R-223), two staff assignments in Washington, DC (Flag Aide to the NOAA Administrator and NOAA Liaison to the Oceanographer and Navigator of the United States Navy), and three air tours conducting operations domestically as well as internationally. As a senior officer, he is currently assigned to the NOAA's Aircraft Operations Center in Lakeland, FL.
After serving in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea from 2003-2005, was selected for flight school and earned NOAA Aviator wings in 2006. Assigned to the DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft from 2006-2011. Selected for the Gulfstream-IV 'Hurricane Hunter' aircraft in 2012 and is currently operational accruing over 3500 flight hours to-date.
As Chief of the Aircraft Maintenance Branch, he coordinates the strategic and tactical efforts of 35 personnel completing scheduled, unscheduled aircraft maintenance and scientific payload integration as efficiently as possible across each of NOAA's 9 aircraft.
Has made multiple significant gifts to the Science and Environmental Policy Peer-to-Peer Program to retain students in the introductory chemistry series, which are gatekeeper courses for many of CSUMB's science students.
