  • A pioneer in satellite television, he headed DirecTV since its inception in 1990 and was responsible for assembling its management team and guiding its strategic efforts in developing the business infrastructure.
  • Board member at Broadcom Corporation, City of Hope, SanDisk and Sirius XM Radio, where he also serves as nonexecutive chairman.
  • Among his many recognitions, inducted into the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in 2001, the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame in 2008.
  • Won three Emmy Awards for his contributions to digital broadcast satellite technology and received the lifetime achievement award in 2007 from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
