One of the few women to be voted tribal leader for the Barona Band of Mission Indians.
During her tenure, the tribe donated millions to education and healthcare facilities, infrastructure, and the environment. She is committed to promoting the importance of higher education to tribal members.
Perhaps best known for precedent-setting efforts to improve tribal relations with neighbors and local government. Working in collaboration with the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, she initiated a $6 million road improvement project funded jointly by the tribe and the county government.
