  • Lucia Soares chose to work in health care after being diagnosed with a rare disease as a child. Though her parents had just a grade-school education, the oldest of five siblings was encouraged to pursue higher education and chose San José State because she could afford it and her studies would allow her to continue working while in school.
  • After working for five years building digital platforms, Lucia made the transition to working in health care and finds her work very rewarding. She believes it is important to develop solutions that treat disease and also serve of well-being of patients.
  • One of Johnson & Johnson's key missions is to continue to innovate and the Healthcare Technology Strategy group is known as a strong, science-based innovator that strives to advance health care through digital and technological innovation. Over the past five years, $18 billion has been invested by venture capitalist in the group's health technology.
