In 2008, Chamitoff lived and worked aboard the International Space Station for approximately six months.
Before joining NASA in 1995, he worked on the Hubble Space Telescope.
While at Cal Poly, he developed a self-guided robot for his undergraduate thesis.
Since 2013, Chamitoff has worked as a professor of engineering practice and aerospace engineering at Texas A&M University.
