Jazmin Silvestri

California State University Maritime Academy
Trustee Jack McGrory Scholar

While the demands are large, the maritime industry provides a chance to give and receive guidance, support, respect, and build connections with my ‘shipmates.’

Jazmin Silvestri is one of just three women in her degree program at CSU Maritime Academy, where she is majoring in mechanical engineering and pursuing a USCG Third Assistant Engineer’s license. This path has led to her becoming one of two female members currently in the CSUM Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society.

Jazmin served as divisional commanding officer to over 100 cadets, scheduling watch bills and organizing plant familiarity on the Training Ship Golden Bear. She is also active in multiple professional engineering societies on campus, teaching middle school students the building blocks of technology. Jazmin interned with Stone Edge Farm, a leader in developing packaged micro-grids and alternative power solutions. For her senior capstone project, she is part of a team designing a competitive vessel for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Solar Powered Boat Regatta.

After graduation, she hopes to pursue her interests in power generation and alternative energy production.
