​Amanda Nuno became a teen parent at the age of 14. Living in poverty, she had to work hard in order to graduate high school while maintaining her responsibilities as a mother. While some people doubted her ability to earn a college degree, Amanda has overcome many obstacles and is currently an undergraduate student at California State University, Northridge majoring in cell and molecular biology.

Amanda is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the educational opportunity program. During her first year as a member of the honor society, Amanda took part in volunteer and fundraising committees and served as the fundraising chair. She is currently an undergraduate researcher through the National Institute of Health's Promoting Opportunities for Diversity in Education and Research program. Amanda's goal is to become a cancer researcher and mentor to inspire teen parents to never give up on their goals.​
