​​Oshae Rodgers was determined to improve his quality of life despite many obstacles, including growing up in a struggling community and being displaced from his home. He worked full-time during high school while still maintaining a strong GPA and was determined to go to college.

Today, Oshae is excelling in his freshman year at California State University, Northridge, majoring in both history and Africana studies while on the teaching credential track.

Oshae’s passion for youth and education has inspired him to be a classroom volunteer. He has also worked to help document the ancestry of slaves with the Freedmen’s Bureau and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. 

After graduation, Oshae plans to teach and hopes to transform education in an effort to inspire youth and gain equal access to opportunities in higher education.​
