​​​Christine D. Gonzalez grew up in East Los Angeles as the child of a single mother who emigrated from Mexico. Christine is the first person in her family to attend college. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor's degree in political science and is currently a graduate student at San Francisco State University majoring in sexuality studies with a 4.0 GPA.

After working as a sexual health educator in middle schools for several years, Christine began graduate studies to enhance her ability to address issues of inequality and marginalization in the classroom. Her graduate thesis is on the role of gender nonconformity in mariachi music.

​Christine has always strived to give back to her community by volunteering with California Public Interest Research Group, a student-run organization with the mission to increase youth voter registration and participation. After graduation, Christine plans on continuing her work on empowering young people and possibly working towards a doctoral degree in gender or cultural studies.
