Ali C. Razi

​Ali C. Razi is a trustee emeritus of California State University serving from 1996-2001.  In 2002, he received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from California State University, San Bernardino for his contributions to higher education.  In a commencement address, Dr. Razi stated, “It is not enough to be personally successful unless everyone in society has the same opportunity to succeed.” Through Dr. Razi’s leadership and personal financial commitment, the CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement has thrived.  Over 250 students have benefitted from the program.

Dr. Razi is president of the Stratham Group of Companies, a major owner and developer of real estate.  The firm and its affiliates have developed more than 10,000 apartment units, single family homes, and numerous parcels of land.  Dr. Razi was selected as Builder of the Year for 2006 by the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

He is vice chair of the Midnight Mission board of directors, a member of the Building Industry Association of Southern California board of directors, and a former member of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Transportation Investment of the State of California.

Dr. Razi and his family arrived in the country after the fall of the Shah of Iran.  He learned the lessons of sacrifice as the Iranian government seized his corporation and personal effects.  Dr. Razi built his American dream starting with nothing.  He received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2011 for his perseverance, compassionate philanthropy and lasting impact on humanity.

Dr. Razi is a graduate of King’s College, London University in civil engineering and holds a master’s degree in business administration. He was a lecturer at Tehran Polytechnic University.
