William C. Hsu

William C. Hsu is a member of the Office of General Counsel's litigation team and serves as a resource attorney for California State University Risk Authority (CSURMA), sovereign immunity and immigration. He also serves as Counsel to CSURMA, a joint-power authority providing insurance coverage and risk management to CSU and Auxiliary Organizations. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi of the United States District Court, Central District of California.

Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, William was in private practice. His practice consisted primarily of complex civil litigation in areas such as antitrust, unfair competition, contract and intellectual property. He actively litigated and managed lawsuits implicating, among other things, federal and state antitrust and unfair competition statutes, the Federal Communications Act, the Copyright Act, the Cable Communications Act, the Lanham Act, and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. The matters involved diverse industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, gasoline, natural gas, cable television, entertainment, and securities.

William is a past executive vice president of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association and a regional governor of National Asian Pacific Bar Association. He has served as a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Committee, Judicial Appointments Committee and Federal Courts Committee. He has also served as a lawyer representative for the Central District of California to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and on the Central District of California's Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Committee. William is a past faculty member of the Practising Law Institute's Annual Advanced Antitrust Seminar. He has been a past panelist for the American Bar Association on topics such as unfair business practices and price regulation and is currently a program presenter for the State Bar of California's Continuing Education of the Bar.
