Dr. Mark Lisagor has been an influential business and civic leader whose distinguished contributions have enriched the California State University and the citizens of California. 

Dr. Lisagor has been an avid supporter of California State University Channel Islands (CI) since its founding and has been instrumental in its success through his championing of the University mission and vision to the greater community. Dr. Lisagor is a founding member of CI’s Legacy Society, he has served as the Foundation Board Chair and he has consistently dedicated his time, professional expertise and financial contributions for the betterment of CI’s students and the University community as a whole.

At his very core, Dr. Mark Lisagor is a servant leader, community builder and philanthropist. Dr. Lisagor actively engages in the local, regional, state, national and international communities through his involvement on a large number of boards and organizations. Within the region, Dr. Lisagor focuses his involvement helping youth organizations, including serving as President of the Ventura County Board of Education, Chair of the Santa Barbara-Ventura Counties Dental Care Foundation,  President of the UCLA Friends of Pediatric Dentistry, Chair of the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo Board, Chair of Development on the Board of Interface Children Family Services, dental consultant for the Ventura County Maternal and Infant Oral Health Program and the Ventura County Children’s Oral Health Collaborative, and dental coordinator for the Juvenile Justice Center Dental Clinic volunteer program. 

In addition to his regional service, Dr. Lisagor also serves as a model of generosity and service to mankind in his international forays around the world, including the most humble and economically deprived areas of Vietnam, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, India and Nepal. Dr. Lisagor leads four volunteer teams each year to provide dental health care, particularly to those who cannot afford it. To date, he has led more than fifty teams and been a volunteer on many more.​

Dr. Lisagor earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and his degree in Dentistry from the University of California, Los Angeles.  Following service in the United States Public Health Service (Indian Health Branch), he completed his residency training in Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA-Harbor General Hospital. 

In recognition of his tremendous commitment to service and civic engagement to our local, regional, state, national and international communities, his strong support of the education of college students and as a tribute to his remarkable life, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University Channel Islands are proud to confer upon Dr. Mark Lisagor the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
