Paul E. Stevens is a leader in the maritime industry and has spent his professional career advocating for the advancement of maritime education.

Mr. Stevens has more than 40 years of maritime operations and management experience, with most of his career dedicated to growing Matson Navigation Company. At Matson, he served as executive vice president with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the carrier, including marketing, pricing and container operations. He also held various marketing, sales and operations positions with Matson.

Mr. Stevens currently serves as the managing director and senior vice president of Saltchuk where he heads the Marine Resources Group. Previously, he served as the chief executive officer at Foss Marine Holdings and as the chief executive officer and president of Foss Maritime Company, which offers a range of maritime and project management services around the globe.

Mr. Stevens has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of San Diego and a master's in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management. He is a graduate of the Senior Executive Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr. Stevens has been a member of the California Maritime Academy Foundation Board of Directors for nine years and is a member of the industry advisory board at Cal Maritime. He has served at the forefront of maritime leadership as the chief executive officer at Foss and in leadership positions at Matson.

In recognition of his distinguished career, his contributions to and advocacy for the maritime industry and his support of Cal Maritime and its educational mission through his work with the foundation and advisory boards, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University Maritime Academy are proud to confer upon Paul E. Stevens the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
