B.A. Journalism (1980)

  • With almost 30 years' experience in business television, he is one of the most respected financial journalists in the country. Co-anchor of CNBC's Closing Bell.
  • Part of the production team that, in 1981, started the Financial News Network, the first cable channel devoted to business news. When NBC purchased FNN in 1991, he was asked to join the CNBC team.
  • Anchored a number of programs for the network, including Market Wrap, Mutual Fund Investor, The Money Club, and the very popular Power Lunch, which he co-hosted with fellow CSU Northridge alumna Sue Herera. Along the way, he has garnered seven Cable ACE Award nominations.
  • Upon his 20th anniversary in the business, the National Association of Investors awarded him its Distinguished Service Award in Investor Education.
  • Author of three books: By Faith Alone: One Family's Epic Journey through 400 Years of American Protestantism, Bill Griffeth’s Ten Steps to Financial Prosperity, and The Mutual Fund Masters. The latter two were Fortune Book Club main selections.
  • Continues service to campus as a member of the Cal State Northridge Foundation Board of Directors and served on the University’s Task Force on Engagement in 2011-2012. Annually returns to California to serve as master of ceremonies for the Distinguished Alumni Awards gala.
