Coached the U.S. team to earn a bronze medal at the first Olympic Judo Tournament during the 1964 games in Tokyo.
Organized the first U.S. High School Judo Championships, which were held at San José State.
San José State dedicated Yoshihiro Uchida Hall, which houses its judo dojo, to him in 1997.
