Learn how CSU campuses are overcoming adversity and saving money during the pandemic.

ALL CAMPUSES & THE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE

Providing personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to the health and safety of the CSU’s faculty, students and staff. All 23 campuses and the Chancellor’s Office are purchasing PPE in bulk and using single-campus bidding in order to save money. The CSU has also received free supplies from The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).

FRESNO STATE

The Fresno State print shop is producing sneeze guards, which not only saves the campus approximately 50 percent on costs but helps keep students and staff safe and healthy. With the ability to manufacture more than 1,000 sneeze guards a week, the print shop is even helping out the Fresno community by providing them to K-12 schools in the area.

#

CAL STATE LONG BEACH

At Cal State Long Beach, Housing and Residential Life was searching for a company to provide lockers for delivery packages. As one of the bidders, Luxer One offered the lowest-priced option. When procurement reached out to Luxer One to check customer references, the company referred them to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which had recently implemented the system. The campus provided excellent feedback, reported the system was easy and user friendly and shared they were happy with the outcome and pricing.

CAL STATE EAST BAY

Following the transition to virtual instruction due to COVID-19, Cal State East Bay purchased 600 laptops and 300 hotspots to ensure students have the infrastructure needed for continued student success. All devices are available on a check-out basis through the library. In both cases, the items were procured through a competitive process and awarded to the businesses that offered superior pricing and terms.
