Professional Development & Grants

Through CDIP grants, we aim to support the collaborative activities of our CDIP fellows and their faculty members. Fellows will have the opportunity to use grant funds to further their doctoral training and to attend professional conferences and workshops.

Through research and scholarly attendance at conferences, fellows can enhance their professional development. The goal of the grants is to support fellows by awarding them seed funds to enhance their skills and experience to teach a diverse student body at the CSU.

The program offers two types of grants.

Mini-Grant Program

The Mini-Grant Program offers resources to CDIP Fellows to ensure successful completion of their doctoral training and thereby enhance the competitiveness of their applications for tenure-track instructional faculty positions at CSU campuses.

This program can be used in two ways: First, CDIP Fellows can use the Mini-Grant to implement scholarly and professional development activities from their Collaborative Plan of Support developed with their CDIP faculty mentor. Second, the Mini-Grant can also support scholarly activities related to the CDIP Fellow's dissertation project. Third, Mini-Grant funding can be used to cover conferences in virtual format. The Mini-Grant cannot be used for any type of travel.

Funding (maximum): $2,500

Attending a conference or workshop without presenting will also be funded if the meeting is identified in the original Collaborative Plan of Support. Applications are accepted twice a year, for Fall/Winter travel and Spring/Summer travel. Fellows can apply for both Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer funding, up to $1,500 per trip per application.
