Education is the key to freedom and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Tania Parker, a first-generation college student at CSUN, is studying early childhood educational psychology. The single mother of two regards her sons as her greatest accomplishments.

Tania earned CSUN’s Outstanding Graduating Senior Award, becoming the first former foster youth from the Resilient Scholars Program and first formerly incarcerated student ever to receive this honor.

As a result of her life experiences, Tania is passionate about working with children and vulnerable populations. She volunteers with various organizations throughout the San Fernando Valley, advocating for foster youth and helping those struggling with addiction and alcoholism.

Once she completes her graduate studies, Tania plans to become a licensed clinical social worker serving underrepresented, marginalized communities.
