Item 415 - Duration Of Appointment

This is a two-character alpha/numeric code that identifies the length of a temporary appointment. It is used in conjunction with Item 416, Expiration Date of Appointment.

 

Coding:

Non-Academic employees:

XX = Number of months

Academic employees including the Pre-retirement Reduction in Time Base Program (A61 Transaction):

Q1 - One quarter
Q2 - Two Quarters
S1 - One semester
Y1 - One year
Y2 - Two Years
Y3 - Three years
Y4 - Four years
Y5 - Five years

415-01 DURATION OF APPOINTMENT AND EXPIRATION DATE MUST BE ENTERED.

If transaction is A52, A56 or A61, Items 415 and 416 must be entered.

Instructions:

  1. Number of months may not exceed the limits identified in respective collective bargaining agreements.

  2. When a temporary employee is re-appointed or if the duration of appointment/expiration date of appointment is extended, use an A52 Transaction. The effective date should be the next day after the date reflected in Item 416 of the previous A52 Transaction. The reappointment transaction should be processed on or after the effective date.

  3. When a rehired annuitant is re-appointed or if the duration of appointment/expiration date is extended, the employee must be separated (S31 Transaction) and re-appointed via a new A56 Transaction.
